Sanford Holshouser Economic Development Consulting is assisting Cleveland County in their search for a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead their economic development program.  The Economic Development Director is responsible for managing the County’s Economic Development Department including implementation of the countywide economic development strategic plan and the accomplishment of its goals and objectives along with a staff of three.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in   Business, Economics, Public Administration, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A Master degree is preferred.    A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is preferred, but not required.

Job Functions Duties

• Plans, organizes, and manages the operations of the Economic Development Department including budgeting, marketing, business retention and expansion and new company recruitment

•  Develops and maintains a robust economic development product inventory

• Develops department goals and objectives consistent with the goals and strategies of the  Board of Commissioners and economic development strategic plan

• Responds to economic development inquiries by preparing site  selection information, organizes and conducts prospect visits

• Maintains cooperative working relationships and participates in business recruitment with other professionals across the region and state

• Maintains the economic development website to ensure current and compelling information

Salary commensurate with background and experience.
